Policy for Use of the Graduate Floor of Library West

The sixth floor of Library West, designed to support both quiet study and collaborative work, is designated only for the use of University of Florida graduate students.

The floor provides:

Wireless access to the Internet
Individual study carrels that have connectivity and electrical power
Four-person reading tables
Lounge seating
3 group study rooms
- 2 accommodate up to 6 students
- 1 accommodates up to 4 students
Lockers

Guidelines for Floor Use:

Only currently enrolled graduate students at the University of Florida may use the sixth floor. Others should not be admitted.
The floor is available for use during all hours that Library West is open.
Access is granted by scanning/swiping a Gator 1 card through the reader in either of the library elevators and then selecting floor 6. NOTE: Current graduate students must first visit the Circulation Desk at Library West and have their UFID number entered into the elevator security database system in order to permit this access.
Please be considerate of other graduate students who are using the floor for quiet study.
Do not leave personal belongings on the floor. The library is not responsible for the loss or theft of personal property. If you leave your belongings unattended, you risk the loss of your possessions.
The three group study rooms on the floor are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms may not be reserved in advance. Single occupancy of the rooms is not permitted.
Snacks and drinks in covered containers are allowed. Hot, messy or odorous items must still be consumed in the café area across from Starbucks.
Appliances that pose fire hazards – heaters, coffee pots, etc. – are strictly forbidden.
Repeat violations of guidelines may result in revocation of related privileges.

Lockers:

Lockers may be checked out for the day at the Library West Circulation Desk.
Library privileges will be blocked if the key is not returned by closing time. Keys may not be duplicated, and there is a $35.00 replacement fee for keys that are lost or are not returned.
