Computers and Equipment

All computers in the Smathers Libraries are managed by UF Academic Technology (AT), providing students and faculty access to an extensive list of software.

If you have problems with a public computer or would like to request a software program that is not available on the aforementioned list, you may submit a Help Request to UF-AT.

Printing

Printers are available in all library branches and can be accessed by current UF students, faculty, and staff. Instructions at print.at.ufl.edu/

For instructions on printing from a phone or other mobile device, please visit mobileprint.at.ufl.edu/ and log in with your GatorLink credentials.

3-D Printers and Scanners

Available at Marston Science Library, Education Library, and Health Science Center Library.

Multi-language Support

Library workstations provide multi-language support through the Microsoft Keyboard IME extensions.

The libraries have a variety of assistive software and technologies. The following adaptive/assistive equipment is available at limited locations. Assistance is available at each public service desk.   • The Accessibility Studio, located on the 3rd floor of Library West, hosts a diverse set of resources to improve accessibility to library materials, including a portable magnifier and Kurzweil software.

Marston Science Library

  • 1 Sapphire Portable Video Magnifier
  • 1 KIC Bookeye Scanner
  • L136 Conference and Visualization Room: 1 height-adjustable table for wheelchair accessibility

Video Recording Studio (One Button Studio)

Available to Library West for UF students only via online reservation. One Button Studio has auto-record camera equipment, lighting, audio, and a green screen option bundled in a single setup that allows students to quickly and easily record videos. Required: students must bring a FAT-32 formatted USB drive (min. 8GB). Microforms

Microfilm, microfiche, and microprint readers/printers are available wherever microform materials are located.

Library West

  • 4 ScanPro 3000 digital microform readers/printers/editors
  • 1 analog microfiche reader

Smathers Library (East)

Marston Science Library

  • 1 Digital Microform reader/printer/editor on the 5th floor. This digital microform reader is the only one in the Libraries that can read special, microprint cards.

Scanning

A small number of scanners are available in Smathers Library, Marston Science Library, the Architecture and Fine Arts Library, and the Education Library. Imaging software varies, depending on the location.

    • Both located outside the double elevators
  • 3rd Floor
    • 1 KIC Bookeye Scanner (3rd floor print release station alcove)
    • 1 WideTEK 44in large format scanner (3rd floor print release station alcove)
    • Approximately 15 flatbed scanners located in the Dual Monitor Computers Area (east side of 3rd floor)
  • 6th Floor (Restricted to Graduate Students)
    • 1 oversize format scanner
    • Located in northwest corner of the 6th floor in the Multimedia Production, Printing, and Scanning Station.
