The UF Libraries continue to thrive through engaged subject area specialist and librarians, dedicated employees who are passionate about lifelong learning and support from the University of Florida and friends of the Libraries. While this is the norm for us, this year was especially exciting as we wrap up our centennial celebration. 2025 was marked with dynamic speakers, over-the-top student outreach and continued dedication to illuminating excellence for our UF community. The centennial even made it to the desk of the UF Government Student Senate, as they acknowledged the Libraries with a student senate resolution that “encourages all students to participate in honoring the Smathers Libraries’ centennial.” I encourage you to visit uflib.ufl.edu/centennial/ to check out all of this year’s great moments.
Looking ahead, we are excited to begin a successful capital campaign for the Libraries, fill strategic faculty/staff positions, continue to build high-quality digital collections and expand Open Access, and focus on processing and making available additional special collections materials.
I hope you’ll stop by in person, or engage with our online services and fall into your own rabbit holes of curiosity.
